The Hidden Worlds of the National Parks
Google has partnered with the National Park service to create the virtual guided tours of 5 National Parks: Alaska's Kenai Fjords, Hawai'i Volcanoes, New Mexico's Carlsbad Caverns, Bryce Canyon in Utah, and the Dry Tortugas off the coast of Florida. After watching the introduction video, students can select the park they want to explore. Tours of the park are guided by a park ranger, and viewers can use their computer mouse to look at their surroundings and click on features that appear along the journey.

Natural Inquirer
The Natural Inquirer is a middle school science education journal! Scientists report their research in journals, which enable scientists to share information with one another. This journal, The Natural Inquirer, was created so that scientists can share their research with middle school students. Each article tells you about scientific research conducted by scientists in the USDA Forest Service. Find out more about the USDA Forest Service.
Students can use these documents to research environmental issues that were important early this century. Which issues still exist today?
Some of the documents are whole journals with multiple articles, like a magazine. Other documents contain just one article, and if this is the case, the article title is listed. Many of the journals are special editions that have multiple articles about the edition topic, such as Climate Change or Bioenergy. Happy researching! The Natural Inquirer has other environmental resources on their website.

Tree ID Cards
Print, cut out, and laminate these cards featuring common Wisconsin trees. Hang them on trees to be identified or use them in the classroom. They are helpful resources when leaves, fruit, or seeds are not present or are too high on a tree to be examined.
These cards can be used for identifying different types of trees native to the Midwest! Each document contains two types of tree cards to be cut out and used while on a walk, field trip, or adventure. The Card Key at the top contains the answers for each tree card.
These cards come from the University of Wisconsin LEAF K12 Education Program.
